No, the comic hasn’t started again. I just had something of a revelation when I logged in, for the first time in well over a month, a couple nights ago.

I miss Bleen’s, but I still can’t dedicate enough time to it to make anything truly LOL-worthy and long running. Hence this: brief, three panel haikus based on my clan members for the next few days. No promises on this lasting, so don’t get your hopes up! Just take it as an incredibly dorky method for me keeping in shape with Garry’s mod.

The comic has ended.

I’m sorry to end things so abruptly, but I’ve tried and tried and tried…but cannot come up with climax that is suitable for this. The enthusiasm and energy for it just isn’t in me now. With the way my work hours are scattered (and on the rise pretty rapidly), and in addition to other commitments I have, voluntary work and so forth, well…one of the last things I want to be doing is spending time within Garry’s Mod, wrestling about with the physics. I certainly loved the run it had (I mean, jesus, over a thousand frequent hits is pathetic compared to a lot of websites but to me it was greater than what I’d anticipated) but I’m NOT loving what it’s becoming for me. I haven’t even logged into Team Fortress for more than a couple hours the last few weeks. If I was still unemployed this post wouldn’t be made, but I am, so it is, and so the comic is…well. You know how the rest of that goes.

I always told myself the moment it became a chore, I’d stop. It has, so…I have.

I do appreciate the comments and feedback I’ve been given, and it does pain me to terminate the Chapter like this, but I couldn’t see any workable alternatives. Go out on a bang, etc, etc.

Notice anything wrong? Yeah. Those are BLU characters, not RED. I’m not sure how the hell I missed that in the two hours or so I was putting this together, but I didn’t notice until someone pointed it out to me. What the hell! Either way, I’m posting it now to maintain the schedule, but in the next day or so I’ll be uploading a corrected version: I would have done that beforehand but I’m gone for most of the day and didn’t think the few hours delay would have been taken too well.

Even I’m not perfect, apparently.

This just in: I fugging hate posing sentry guns. Even with the aid of G-Mod, er, mods they have a tendency to catch and flail about when they so much as get near anything else. It’s irritating, and one of the reasons the engineer’s pose looks so awkward in that first panel there.

Secondly, the eight panel is…horrible. I’m experimenting with motion blur within Garry’s at the moment, but it isn’t coming off terribly well. I need some more experience with it before it’s convincing methinks.

Hey look, an update. Eventually. Sorry about that folks – couldn’t actually get into my sodding WordPress account last night. Wasn’t until earlier that I read something that triggered off the password-related train of thought.

Anyway, I may or may not be putting Bleen’s into another semi-hiatus once this chapter is over. I have a great deal of Chapter 3 planned, where our boys are going, what they’ll be doing…it’s just that Someone Up There has decided to even out my karmic balance rather suddenly. A bunch of stuff is happen, I’m not terribly pleasant, yada yada, angst angst, etc etc. Suffice to say the comic is becoming a bit of a distraction rather than something I enjoy doing.

As I said though, this is only a possibility. Just belching out the warning in advance.

Not entirely sure the punchline gets across in this one, but either way – here’s part 10!

As has rapidly become the case with me, it’s another slightly early update. Tempted to change the proper update schedule to Sunday/Tuesday/Thursday, but that then means I lose credit for no longer being early with the strips. Oh well! On a semi-related note, I’ve dropped the “latest” tab and added my personal blog – the Fairy Fort – to the sidebar. The former is kind of redundant now the latter exists; the latest update to Bleen’s Fortress is always going to be the one that’s on the page when you come here.

P.S. Interesting trivia: the skull and hula girl on the BLU desk are left-overs from an old set-up I put together a while back. The original idea for this chapter was, uh…crap (I didn’t even bother cropping it as you can tell). Way, way too melodramatic and stupid even by my usual standards. I’ve tightened the overall plot since then, and have gradually refined the story as I go. Same basic skeleton remains, it’s just a world apart from what I originally envisioned.

I was an arse yesterday, so here’s two comics as promised.

After sleeping, thinking and having Nhani prod me with my own hypocrisy I’ve calmed down a lot. Sorry about the rant, chaps – I’m expecting a bit too much a bit too soon. Hoist by own petard, etc. Business as usual on Friday!
